Shukla Sawant did her Bachelor’ and Masters in Art from the College of Art, New Delhi, M.A. Fine Arts from the Slade School of Art and Center for Theoretical Studies, University College London, U.K. She also studied Lithography at Ecole Nationale Superieure Des Beaux Arts Paris as a guest student. She has participated in innumerable group and solo shows since 1986 in India and abroad and is the recipient of awards and scholarships.

She is presently the Associate Professor, with the School of Art & Aesthetics, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi.
